Pretty First Snow

Everybody assumes that a Canadian Christmas is like the ones off greeting cards, but that's not always the case.

I live in Atlantic Canada, and I really can't remember the last time we had a real good snow at Christmas - you know, that magical, fluffy, sticky kind where you can go out and have fun in it, like building a snowman, making snow angels, or sledding. Oh sure, we do get snow (and lots of it), but not usually in time for Christmas.

I'm not really sure what's going on with the weather, but it seems like having a Green Christmas is becoming the norm here. It seems like when I was a child, we always had a White Christmas. But perhaps that just one of those magical things you associate with childhood, and not necessarily rooted in reality.

Well, the other day, on New Year's Eve, we did have a little sprinkling, and it finally felt like the holidays!

Sadly, it's foggy and rainy here now, and all the snow has melted (for now).

Well, it was pretty while it lasted!

Happy decorating,
