I Heart Valentine's Day Decorating
Seems like I just put away the Christmas decorations and pared down my mantel for winter, but I just couldn't wait to pull out all my Valentine's Day trimmings. Maybe it's because Valentine's Day brings with it a totally legitimate excuse to use pink in my living area.
Did I tell you I LOOOOOVE pink? You can probably tell from my blog home!
Anyway, enough with the chit-chat! Here's the pretty pictures.
Transitioning my winter mantel to Valentine's Day was pretty quick, easy and inexpensive. All I did was pull out the aqua accents from my winterscape (the little trees, and the ribbon) and switch out the "All You Need Is Love" art with the new "Be Mine" print. BTW, don't you love that adorable print? Free. Yup, I said free. It was one of those free, downloadable designs floating around Blogland (Krafty Kat, to be precise).
Once I had pulled out the aqua, I started to load on the pink.
(Did I tell you I LOOOOVE pink? Oh right, I just did!).
I had the pink sinamay/mesh leftover from decorating my daughter's room a couple of years ago, and the burlap garland was purchased at Michael's for about $7. (Sheesh, seems like I mention Michael's an awful lot around here - perhaps it deserves some pay per mention, lol!)
I stuffed the winter vases with some pink tulle that I bought at the Dollarama for $3 a roll.
I changed up my jar lanterns a little by switching the ribbons to pink - easy peasey. I also added red votive holders to the snow jars from my winter mantel.
I added three adorable heart-shaped plates which I purchased at Winners (the Canadian equivalent of Marshalls) for $4 each.
So, all in all, about $25 worth of supplies. I love telling how little things cost. I just shows that you can get a whole lot of pretty for very little. All it takes is imagination :-).
The distressed "Happily Ever After" sign deserves a little mention. This was one of my latest Etsy purchases. I love it. I had planned to put it above my kitchen window, but the scale was wrong (too small). So for now, given that it fits well with the whole love theme, it has found a home on the mantel until I find a better place for it.
Pssst...I'm sharing this at:
Until next time, happy decorating,

A little matching banner hangs in the nearby window. |
